Join us for a beginner-friendly Software Carpentry ONLINE workshop teaching Shell and Git/Github!
You can also sign up for the Programming with Python workshop as part of this series, scheduled on August 21 (Friday) and 24 (Monday)!
This Unix Shell and Git/Github workshop will leave you feeling prepared to use the command line to navigate and work with files, write custom Bash scripts to automate repetitive analyses, and implement simple Git workflows for tracking your work.
Each session combines short tutorials with hands-on exercises, encouraging collaboration and real-world application of skills to your own work. Register for Shell and Git, Python, or all three with scheduling set as follows:
- Thursday, August 20, 2026 | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern Time | Shell and Git
- Friday, August 21 and Monday, August 24, 2026 | 10:00 and - 4:00 pm Eastern Time| Programming with Python
Open to MIT users at this time, please register with MIT Kerberos and we will send you the zoom link.
Participants must use a laptop or desktop (not a tablet) with administrative privileges to fully engage in the workshop activities.
