One in five people in the United States lives with a disability. Some disabilities are visible, others less apparent—but all are underrepresented in media and popular culture. Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century provides a glimpse into the rich complexity of the disabled experience and highlighting the passions, talents, and everyday lives of this community. It celebrates and documents disability culture in the now, and looks to the future and the past with hope and love.

Please note: In response to several requests, we request that people mask during as much of this event as possible.  This is tricky given that it's a lunch event, but we encourage everyone to take whatever steps will contribute to their own safety, and as many as possible to keep the event inclusive, safe, welcoming and accessible for everyone.  We'll have some masks on hand if you're not able to bring your own.

This event is open to current members of the MIT community. Lunch will be served to registered attendees.  We welcome late registrations but we cannot guarantee our ability to  accommodate special dietary requirements requested after 11/11/23.

The Nexus is situated on the first floor of the Hayden Library, MIT's Building 14, located at 160 Memorial Drive. The room is on the river side of the library reading room, behind the Courtyard Cafe and across the room from the library service desk. If you have trouble finding it please ask at the service desk.
