SUMMARY:Books and Bites: Technovernacular Creativity (5-6 pm)
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate the intersection of arts\, science\, and
technology through the lens of marginalized communities represented in MIT
Libraries' distinctive collections. Attendees will be introduced to Dr.
Nettrice Gaskin's concept of technovernacular creativity\, which "connects
 technical literacy\, equity\, and culture\, encompassing creative
innovations produced by ethnic groups that are often overlooked."\n\nThe
Books and Bites event will engage attendees in the various rare materials
from the Distinctive Collections (DDC) at MIT Libraries. A curated
 selection of materials\, including artists’ books\, zines\, and art\,
alongside treasures from the Aga Khan Documentation Center\, will showcase
underrepresented groups and their contributions to the fields of art\,
science\, and technology.\n\nThis event is a part of the MIT Artfinity Arts
Festival. You are registering to attend Books and Bites from 5-6 pm on
Tuesday\, March 11. Walk-ins also welcomed at the door. \n\nPreview titles
on view and past titles from previous Books and Bites events. \n\n
