How do you design a product that uses off the shelf parts? How does your device know how to connect to wifi? How do you know your coffee maker won't electrocute you?

Standards set the norm for all of these cases and many more. Technical standards govern how products and systems are designed and tested for safety, reliability, and interoperability. Come to this workshop to learn more about technical standards, how they are developed, how to find and request them at the MIT Libraries, and how you might use them in your work as an engineer.
